2020 Board of Directors Slate
The 2019 Nominating Committee has announced their recommendations for the 2020 CTAR leadership positions.
One candidate has been selected for each vacancy, and will be elected by acclamation should no additional candidates be submitted. Additional candidates may be placed in nomination by a petition signed by at least 3 percent of Realtor® members eligible to vote. Any petition for additional candidates must be submitted no later than October 15, 2019.
If petition candidates are submitted, email voting will be conducted. Otherwise these slated candidates will be approved by acclamation.
Recommendations for 2020 CTAR Leadership
Rusty Hughes | 2020 CTAR President-Elect
Broker- in- Charge, Carolina One Real Estate
Rusty is a Charleston native and has been in the real estate industry for almost 20 years and holds the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation. He is currently with Carolina One Real Estate and is the Broker-in-Charge for the new Carolina One office on Daniel Island. Rusty has served on the CTAR Board and as the Chairman of the Realtors Housing Opportunities Fund Committee (RHOF) and is active in his community as a volunteer coach. He resides on Daniel Island with his wife and three children.
Jon Stroud | 1st Vice President
Broker Associate, The Boulevard Company
Jon, although not from Charleston originally, tells everyone that he got here as quickly as he could! Jon has been in the real estate industry for over 15 years and holds the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing and e-Pro designations. He and his Team are currently with The Boulevard Company Real Estate. Jon has served on the CTAR Board and as a Director and VP of Admin. Jon will serve as 1st Vice President on the Board this year. He also serves on the Legislative Committee. He is active in his community in music and hike ministries. He resides in Mt. Pleasant with his wife of 29 years, and has two girls. The youngest Daughter is a Junior at USC. The oldest recently graduated from Pharmacy School and is a Pharmacist in Mt. Pleasant.
Drew Grossklaus | Treasurer
Broker-In-Charge, William Means Real Estate
Drew has served as CTAR Director since 2017. He has been the Director of Sales and East Cooper Broker-In-Charge for William Means Real Estate for more than 10 years. During this time, he has led the firm to record growth and managed more than $1.5 billion in sales. Drew graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Accounting and received a Master’s degree from Western Illinois University. He resides in Mt. Pleasant.
Katesha Breland | Director
Broker- in- Charge, Sweetgrass Realty Group
“20 years isn’t long at all when you’re doing what you love.” Katesha is passionate about the real estate industry, assisting her clients and serving within the association. She has held several leadership positions and served on various committees at the local, state and national levels. Katesha is returning for her second term as CTAR Director and is currently President for SC Residential Real Estate Council and Vice Chair for SCR Professional Development. When she’s not consulting, Katesha enjoys coordinating for Feed the Need and traveling with her two daughters. Katesha holds a Master’s Degree in Real Estate Development from Clemson University and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Joseph Klosik | Director
Broker-In-Charge, Keller Williams
Joseph started in real estate in the Atlanta area in 2001 with Keller Williams Realty. After working as a sales agent for 4 years and then spending 6 years as a team leader, (BIC) and coach, Joseph joined his wife Lynne in her sales business to form Salt Marsh Properties, within Keller Williams. On the team, Joseph serves as the listing specialist and CFO. Joseph currently serves as the Operating Principle and Broker in Charge for the Keller Williams Charleston – West Ashley Market Center. His biggest passions are teaching and coaching agents, which have led him to travel the country in order to do this; he has helped real estate agents build their businesses and create lives worth living.
In 2018, Joseph was accepted into the Keller Williams Realty International Master Faculty, a group of fewer than 50 people worldwide within Keller Williams. Having served on Grievance, Professional Standards, the MLS BOD and as the immediate past president of the Charleston Trident Multiple Listing service, Joseph has spent many years serving the local agent community, advocating for them to be able to build their business as entrepreneurs. Joseph and his wife Lynne live in Mount Pleasant where they are active in their church, Saint Peters. Having hearts and the time to serve, they dedicate as much time to the church’s local ministries as well as traveling out of the country to come alongside a ministry in Honduras. In their downtime, you can usually find them on the boat or hanging out with their dogs at their home, enjoying this beautiful Lowcountry.
Janice Adler | Director
Broker Associate, Healthy Realty
Janice Adler is a true Charleston native. Born and raised in Hanahan, she has also lived in several other tri-county cities including Johns Island, West Ashley and James Island. She has seen the growth in Charleston and knows what makes each area so special. After building her first home with a large national builder, she knew this was the industry to be in. Janice began her real estate career in July 2000 receiving her SC real estate license and joined Centex Homes as an onsite sales agent. After a very successful 4 years selling onsite, she earned her Brokers license and went into sales management. Janice was a General Sales Manager, Director of Sales and VP of Sales and Marketing for almost 15 years before deciding to go into general brokerage. Janice said “I wanted to take all that experience to help others whether they are buying or selling a home. Home buying and selling can be stressful and fun at the same time. My job is to make it as easy as possible so they can truly enjoy the process.”
Janice is married to Jeff Adler, a Citadel graduate and they have two boys (Owen 11, Adam 10). They also have another family member, a yellow lab name Batman! Her personal time is filled with watching the boys play basketball, early morning work outs before the family wakes up and reading.
