On Wednesday, November 1, you should have recieved the invoice for your annual Realtor®️ dues investment via email. 2023 has been an exciting year, with a market that’s hotter than ever and our region’s continued growth and expansion. This year, we were able to offer enhanced Realtor®️ services, new education opportunities and introduce new ways to be involved in your Association.

We look forward to continuing to support you and your business in 2024! If you do not receive your invoice, please contact Elizabeth Parker.

Paying your dues online and on time before December 1, 2023 will allow you to purchase the 2024 Education Gold Card.

As in years past, your dues invoice will include voluntary contributions to the Realtors®️ Political Action Committee (RPAC) and the Realtors®️ Housing Opportunities Fund. These contributions are more important than ever in order to keep our Realtor®️ voice strong and our local communities thriving.

Why Contribute to RPAC?
RPAC is a vital part of CTAR’s advocacy efforts. Thanks to the work of the RPAC staff and leadership, Realtors® were classified as essential workers in South Carolina and were able to continue working largely uninterrupted during the pandemic shutdown. Realtors® in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont were not so lucky and were strictly limited in what, if any, work they could do. NAR successfully lobbied to have Realtors® and independent contractors included for unemployment insurance and PPP loans. Flood insurance was also extended until September 30, 2021.

None of these things could have been accomplished without the power of RPAC. In supporting RPAC, you support your business and the real estate industry!

Why Contribute to RHOF?
The Realtors® Housing Opportunity Fund (RHOF) is an endowed fund supporting non-profit organizations to make a positive difference in the local community. Since 2003, RHOF has granted out over $1 million dollars to local affordable housing organizations who help execute RHOF’s three-pronged mission to repair or rehabilitate low-to-moderate income housing, create new affordable housing, and educate and encourage responsible homeownership.

Over the years, RHOF has supported hundreds of homeowners, including Mr. Coaxum, a 74-year-old, two-time cancer survivor and Ms. Ethel Broderick, a wheelchair-bound double foot amputee – both of whom received grants for roof and mold repairs in 2020.

RHOF has been fortunate enough to grant nearly $50,000 to local affordable housing organizations this year alone, but our work is never done! The impacts of the pandemic have created more need and the number of assistance requests coming in are growing rapidly. Your contribution to RHOF will make a difference in the lives of local homeowners in need.

How Your Dues are Distributed
As a member of your local Association, you also hold memberships at the state and national levels with the South Carolina Realtors® (SCR) and the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). This three-way agreement provides you with a wide variety of member benefits that support the work you do each day.

Through this agreement, CTAR distributes portions of your dues to the state and national organizations. NAR receives $201 of your dues investment, SCR receives $140 and $179 stays with CTAR to support the membership programs, services and benefits that we provide throughout the year. We maximize your dues investment by providing no-or-low cost opportunities like the annual Residential Market Update, Summer Conference, RPAC events and lunch and learn programs.

More About Voluntary Contributions
Contributions to RPAC are voluntary and are used for political purposes. RPAC contributions are not deductible for income tax purposes. The amount suggested is a guideline – you may contribute more or less than the amount. You may refuse to contribute without affecting your membership rights. 40% of each contribution is used to support state candidates, 30% local candidates and issues, and 30% is sent to National RPAC for federal candidates and is charged against your limits under 52 U.S.C. 30116.

Contributions to RHOF are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law and 100% of your donation will be granted back out into our local community.

Suggested Contribution Amounts
We ask each Realtor® member to contribute $30 to RPAC and $25 to RHOF, however, if you feel compelled to give more, we certainly appreciate and encourage that!

We ask each Broker-in-Charge and/or Brokerage Owners to contribute $125 to RPAC and $25 to RHOF.
